Fresno’s REEL PRIDE celebrates September 16th-20th with its 20th ANNUAL GAY & LESBIAN FILM FESTIVAL in the Tower District. "For 20 years, Reel Pride has worked to increase the awareness of the gay and lesbian community through the exhibition of films and videos exploring gay and lesbian themes at an annual festival in Fresno. Over these years it has grown to become one of the largest gay and lesbian film festivals in the US and a premiere cultural event in Central California."
Films screening this year include the documentary OUTRAGE, "a blistering investigation into closeted gay politicians who push anti-gay legislation to hide their own sexual impulses", and Prodigal Son, which follows a high school football hero returning home to reveal his new identity, as a woman. Also screening is Fruit Fly, about a woman searching for her biological parents and getting caught up a world of colorful characters, with an appealing cast performing 14 catchy musical numbers, bringing San Francisco’s vibrant art scene to vivid life. And Then Came Lola, is a fast paced lesbian "rom-com" following Lola, a chronic serial dater who runs, jumps, bikes, hikes, Muni’s and hitches with an array of strangers in order to finally come through for her girlfriend, Casey.
