On Wednesday, August 4th, 2010, Judge Vaughn Walker issued his ruling to overturn California’s Proposition 8. Shortly after releasing his decision he also issued a Stay on same sex marriages in California in order for the opposing side to make their case for appeal. An official appeal was filed on Thursday, August 5th, which will send the case to the 9th District Court of Appeals, and perhaps on to the Supreme Court. That process could take anywhere from 2-3 years, and that’s only is if the Federal Supreme Court agrees to hear the case. If the case does make it to the Supreme Court and Prop 8 is ruled un-constitutional, as it was with Judge Walker, then there’s a possibility that legal same sex marriage would not only begin in California but across the nation as well.
All across the nation "Decision Day" rallies were held in celebration of this historic ruling, and Fresno was no exception. Fresno’s rally began around 8pm and was well attended. Several speakers and performances were included and we have a complete video record of the event.
We are currently editing the video, which will result in about 5 separate, smaller videos. They are currently being processed and uploaded to our YouTube Page. Since they are all High Definition Videos it takes a bit longer to process them, but they should all be up by sometime on Friday, August 6th.
We’ve included the first video here…as of the posting of this article, this first video is still being processed by YouTube, so the quality is not yet where it will be once processing is complete
