Conservatives are slowly, slowly coming around on marriage equality.
Gay Star News reports:
According to a poll by the Pew Research Center, over the past decade a growing minority of conservatives are starting to support marriage equality. Today roughly three in ten of Republicans (29%) and political conservatives (30%) are gay marriage supporters. Twelve years ago. ’21% of Republicans and 18% of conservatives expressed this view.’
There is even a subtle shift with conservatives who are religious. ‘About a quarter (23%) of white evangelical Protestants now say they favor same-sex marriage, compared with 13% in 2001,’ the Pew Research report said.
And of course, it’s the youth that’s driving the change.
