Elton John and his partner David Furnish have become parents. A surrogate mother in the state of California helped make the event possible for the couple. John is 63 years old and Furnish is 48.
The child, a boy weighing 7 pounds 15 ounces, comes after John and Furnish were refused as adoptive parents for a 14 month old HIV positive child when Ukrainian officials stated that John was "too old" and that the civil union between John and Furnish was not recognized.
