The Red Lantern was host for the show “Too Hot Too Handle”, on Friday, October 14th. The show, conceived and arranged by Elaine Beringer, Tatiana and Patsy Del Rey, was a benefit for the employees of The North Tower Circle, recently closed to a devastating fire.

The third suspicious fire to strike the north Tower District area occurred Sunday night, October 16th. A bail bond office was heavily damaged by a fast-moving fire shortly before 7 p.m. The Bail-U-Out office was located on Wishon just south of Shields near the underpass.

The closed Dance nightclub was the scene of an early morning fire on Oct. 1st. A Fresno fire investigator said the exterior of the building was involved. Today, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger vetoed Equality California-sponsored Assembly Bill 849, the Religious Freedom and Civil Marriage Protection Act, by Assemblyman Mark Leno (D-San Francisco), bringing this bill’s dramatic progress in recent weeks to a halt.

As many of us in the community of Fresno, have likley heard already, there was a fire at one of Fresno’s most frequented and well know gay dance clubs/bars, the North Tower Circle. 

On October 5th, members of Equality California, and from local gay and lesbian groups/organizations held a joint press conference with Fresno’s Police and Fire department to seek information regarding recent fires at two night clubs.

Wednesday evening, September 7, 2005, less than 24 hours after the California state assembly voted 41-35 to approved marriage equality legislation AB 849, the governor has issued a press statement announcing that he will veto the legislation when it reaches his desk.
