The effort by several anti-gay groups to get enough signatures to put the issue of gay marriage to California voters has officially qualified for the November ballot. Therefore, this November, California voters will have the chance to restrict California marriage to one man and one woman, despite the recent Supreme Court decision to legalize gay marriage. Theoretically, if voters restrict marriage, the legalization of gay marriage will be overturned; however members of the Supreme Court have stated that the courts may step in again at that point to overturn the vote, since it clearly violates equal civil rights.
