California Bullying Bill Could Be Tough

California is following the lead of New Jersey in dealing with the current epidemic of bullying in US schools which had resulted in a high number of LGBT suicides. The New Jersey law is the strictest anti-bullying law to take effect in US schools, since it "mandates that schools have a specific point person to run anti bullying programs. The law requires, among other provisions, that educators undergo training on the issue."

 

Tom Ammiano, California State Assemblyman and longtime proponent of LGBT civil rights, plans to introduce a similar bill in California.
