Corey DeAngelis, a conservative education reform advocate known for his anti-LGBTQ+ views, has recently faced allegations of hypocrisy following the exposure of his past involvement in gay adult films. This revelation has sparked widespread criticism online, given his public opposition to LGBTQ+ rights and inclusion.
DeAngelis, a self-proclaimed “school choice evangelist,” holds senior positions at organizations like the American Federation for Children and frequently appears on Fox News. His focus has been on promoting school choice while criticizing public schools for allegedly pushing “woke” ideologies, including support for LGBTQ+ issues. However, it was revealed that DeAngelis, under the alias “Seth Rose,” appeared in gay adult films as recently as 2014, including a scene where he won a group masturbation contest.
The story, initially reported by Str8UpGayPorn (NSFW), has led to a surge of backlash. LGBTQ+ activist Matt Bernstein shared the news on social media, which quickly went viral. DeAngelis has since remained silent, and while The Advocate compared his images and audio to those of “Seth Rose,” they have not yet independently confirmed his involvement.
Despite his silence, DeAngelis has been a prominent figure in the conservative movement advocating for school choice policies. He has held senior fellowships at organizations like the Reason Foundation and the Cato Institute and regularly appeared in conservative media, where he condemned public education for prioritizing diversity and inclusion programs, including support for LGBTQ+ students.
The controversy surrounding DeAngelis intensified after he promoted a post by Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson, which criticized the Biden administration for allegedly promoting “woke ideologies” in schools, including LGBTQ+ topics. DeAngelis called for the passage of the Educational Choice for Children Act in response, claiming it would defeat the “woke mind virus.”
This year, DeAngelis released a book titled “The Parent Revolution: Rescuing Your Kids From the Radicals Ruining Our Schools.” A description of the book says it “exposes the hypocritical elites who are content to hold other people’s children captive to poorly run government schools.” Trump praised the book on his social media site, Truth Social, in May.
“Corey DeAngelis is a FIGHTER for Parental Rights,” Trump wrote. “His new book, The Parent Revolution, is a great guide to help Moms and Dads take back control of their children’s education from the RADICAL MARXISTS ruining our schools.”
Trump’s endorsement of the book is pinned to the top of DeAngelis’ Instagram account and quoted at the top of his X account.
GLAAD president Sarah Kate Ellis condemned DeAngelis’s actions, calling him a hypocrite and criticizing his alignment with anti-LGBTQ extremism. She emphasized that his involvement in the public debate on education made him unfit to advocate for school safety and reform, underscoring the deeper issue of the political forces that have supported his agenda.
