The zoo has received several calls, emails, and social media posts about the upcoming Pride Night event. Unfortunately, they have been comments in disagreement with the event occurring. The Fresno Chaffee Zoo has released the following statement today:
Fresno Chaffee Zoo Celebrates Diversity in the communities that it serves
The Fresno Chaffee Zoo is proud to celebrate the diverse audiences that it serves. We have put together a wide range of programs that welcome and include the communities of the Central Valley.
“As one of the leading cultural institutions in the Central Valley, it is our responsibility to ensure our Zoo is safe and welcoming for all. The Zoo has made incredible strides in community outreach over the past year working with various partners such as Fresno State, Fresno Housing Authority, One Fresno Foundation, and now Fresno EOC. We will continue to work with local organizations to welcome our neighbors and provide opportunities, events, and inclusive experiences to bring people together. – Jon Forrest Dohlin
Our after hours Family Pride event on Friday, June 24 will be fun for all ages and will include: games, community partner booths, family friendly entertainment and our Animal Ambassadors.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Fresno Chaffee Zoo for hosting this event for LGBTQ+ families in the Central Valley. Having a safe space for families to come together and celebrate who they are while appreciating the beauty of the Zoo is priceless.” – Emilia Reyes, Fresno EOC Chief Executive Officer.
Our next event will celebrate our Hispanic and Latino audience during Dia De Los Muertos in the Fall.
Bravo!
