We were recently contacted by card.com to review their new Pride Visa prepaid card. It was very fun to take out for a couple of small purchases and the reactions the cashiers gave us. “How cool!” and “That’s neat” It really shows how far our community has come in its acceptance.
Having used many credit cards in the past, I was skeptical of another credit rating pull that would harm my credit. Thankfully, as this is a prepaid card, no credit check is necessary. Just a simple ID verification on their website and you can have one of these cards sent to you at no cost.
How the process works:
1. Request a card be sent to you online
2. The card arrives in a few business days and you load money onto the card via local stores that sell green dot cards, PayPal, Western Union, through your bank via an ACH transfer or direct deposit. (no going over the limit on this card)
3. Enjoy the card!
Please note that as is the norm with pre paid cards these days, their are fees, which are clearly listed before you apply (we like transparency) mainly a $5.95 monthly service fee (waived if loading $800 or more via direct deposit monthly).
But, if you are looking for a pre-paid card and want to show your pride, this may be a welcome addition on your next outing.
