Mickey Rourke has confirmed he’s set to star in a film biography of gay rugby player Gareth Thomas.
Thomas came out of the closet in 2009, stating, "I don’t want to be known as a gay rugby player. I am a rugby player, first and foremost I am a man", adding, "What I choose to do when I close the door at home has nothing to do with what I have achieved in rugby".
Rourke confirmed the sentiment, attesting to portraying man who happens to be gay… “When I met the rugby player, Gareth Thomas, this is one thing that he and I talked about. This is something that’s really important: We’re doing a movie about a man who plays rugby who is gay."
