The Defense Dept is now accepting openly gay applicants for military service. This is on the heels of Federal Judge Virginia Phillips ordering the end of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell and is expected to deny a stay requested on the matter.
The federal case will be appealed, which has led LGBT groups to caution LGBT Americans already serving in the military. They suggest not coming out as openly gay at this time since the outcome of the appeal is not known.
