Pastor Eddie Long, the Georgia Pastor who’s been accused of sexual misconduct with several young men, has made his first statement in the matter, however vague it may have been.
"I have never portrayed myself as a perfect man," he told the massive congregation that turned out to support him over the weekend. He did not, however, deny any of the claims or say much more on the issue. Cryptic remarks did seem to indicate there is truth to the story. "We are all subject to face painful situations," he said.
His congregation has grown from a small group of followers to a massive group of thousands over the past few years. Ironically, given that virtually all those in the public eye who have been threatened by sexual accusations have eventually been revealed as guilty, Long’s congregation is passionately standing by him.
Since Georgia has an age of consent of 16 years old, there will be no federal investigation into the matter. The boys were all over 16 at the time of the alleged misconduct.
