The Valley’s Gay Pride Parade committee would like to ask all the members of the community to volunteer for this year’s parade and festival. The Pride event is on Saturday, June 3rd. The parade will begin at 10:00 AM at the corner of Olive and Palm Avenues and head east to Maroa Street. The festival follows the parade roughly at 11:00 AM till 3:00 PM at the Tower Theater’s parking lot at 815 E. Olive. The Pride committee needs around 50 volunteers to make this event happen. Volunteer shifts are short amounts of commitment, leaving everyone time to have a good time and enjoy the event. Volunteers are needed as parade monitors along the parade route, to assist the Police department in keeping people safe and the route clear. There will be positions assigned at each small intersections along the route. Festival volunteers are need to assist in setting up, cleaning up working the entry gate. The committee is especially interested in finding volunteers to help with the children’s corner: face painting, balloon art, and other activities for the little ones. All volunteers will be able to see the parade, get into the festival site, and receive an official “Out in the Valley” pride t-shirt. Not to mention the feeling PRIDE of being supportive to and a part of the community. A coordination meeting with the Police Department will be held with all of volunteers before the pride event.
