Netflix has announced the highly-anticipated sequel series, The Ultimatum: Queer Love, following the success of The Ultimatum: Marry Or Move On. The new season will feature five LGBTQ+ couples in same-sex relationships, where one partner has issued a marriage ultimatum. The show will follow a similar format to its predecessor, with couples initially splitting up and then forming new couples within their group before reuniting. The ten-episode season will be released in three batches, with the first four episodes dropping on May 24, followed by three episodes on May 31 and the final three on June 7.
While The Ultimatum: Marry Or Move On was hosted by Vanessa and Nick Lachey from Love Is Blind, The Ultimatum: Queer Love will be hosted by JoAnna Garcia Swisher. This decision comes after Vanessa received criticism for her hosting skills during the Love Is Blind season 4 reunion. Originally intended to be the second season of The Ultimatum, Netflix later decided to market it as a spin-off to differentiate the two shows. Both shows were filmed in Texas and share similarities, but the different host for each version was seen as a sensible choice.
The cast of The Ultimatum: Queer Love has been announced, with eight out of the ten cast members having Instagram profiles. The five couples featured in the show are Vanessa Papa and Xander, Lexi Goldberg and Raelyn, Mal Wright and Yoly Rojas, Tiff Der and Mildred Bustillo, and Sam and Aussie. All cast members identify as LGBTQ+, with some also identifying as non-binary. Viewers will have the opportunity to meet the cast during the first four episodes of The Ultimatum: Marry Or Move On, releasing on May 24 on Netflix.
